Referral & Scheduling
HumanMind Health accepts referrals from private and NHS clinicians including GPs, Psychiatrists, Psychologists & Psychotherapists and from individuals wishing to self-refer. Before confirming a booking for a New Patient Assessment with us, we will ask you to complete a brief patient registration form with your contact details and any past or current mental health concerns you feel we should know about. We may also ask you for any relevant clinical documentation such as a referral letter from a treating clinician. The registration form also includes consent to share information.
We encourage all patients to consent to sharing relevant clinical information with their NHS and/or Private GP to ensure continuity of care and safety. Where consent to share information is refused, we may discuss this with you prior to deciding whether to progress the referral.
Any information provided as part of the referral is reviewed by the referral triage team, and a response is usually provided within three working days of receipt. This may take longer due to workload, annual leave, or complexity.
Sometimes we may be unable to accept a referral where it is outside the scope of our service (e.g. a minor), or where we believe another service provider or clinician would be better able to meet the needs identified. When this occurs, we aim to clearly explain our reasons and suggest a suitable alternative.
For New Patients, the first appointment with HumanMind Health will take up to two hours during which time a comprehensive assessment will be made. Once your booking is made, email confirmation will be sent with an invoice.
All appointments must be paid in full no later than two working days prior to the scheduled appointment date to avoid cancellation. Any alternative payment arrangements must have been expressly agreed in writing in advance by HumanMind Health.
Where a registration is completed by a third party on behalf of a patient, the third party affirms their acceptance of these terms and conditions and assumes responsibility for the payment of all invoices for services provided. The patient will be required to confirm information sharing and consent preferences during the new patient assessment with the clinician.
You will be contacted by the booking team to arrange a convenient time for your New Patient Assessment. The duration and frequency of any follow-up appointments will be agreed between the patient and the treating clinician and/or the booking team.
HumanMind Health does not guarantee that a diagnosis or prescription will be provided following an assessment or consultation appointment. Any decisions will be made according to the clinician’s professional judgement.

Prescription Medication
Prescriptions will be provided only if the treating clinician considers there is sufficient information to decide it is clinically indicated, safe, and in the best interests of the patient to do so. The clinician will base any decision on their professional judgement, in line with GMC prescribing guidelines. You acknowledge that there is no guarantee you will receive a prescription and understand that any prescription issued is at the clinician's discretion, subject to HumanMind Health’s policies and limitations, and other regulatory requirements.
All prescription requests must be made in writing. HumanMind Health usually aims to issue approved prescriptions three working days after the request is received. This may be longer if clarification or additional information (e.g. blood pressure & pulse readings) is required. It will not always be possible to approve prescription requests, and the clinician may request that a follow-up appointment is required. To provide the best service and avoid interruptions to your medication, HumanMind Health advises that repeat prescription requests are made at least one week before your medication runs out and longer where public holidays or absence is likely to delay processing of your request.
Prescriptions issued as part of the clinician’s treatment plan in a consultation are free of charge. Those issued in between scheduled consultations and/or that do not form part of the agreed treatment plan (e.g. repeat prescriptions, medication changes, additional medication requests) are chargeable. Please refer to our fee schedule for further information.
HumanMind Health is not responsible for any fees charged by the dispensing pharmacy. It remains an individual pharmacist’s right to refuse to fulfil any prescription and/or dispense medications when presented with a legal prescription. Should this happen HumanMind Health will seek to provide advice and support to resolve the situation.
Prescriptions issued by HumanMind Health are only valid at pharmacies in the UK and are intended solely for your personal use. Any information / results requested by the clinician must be received before the prescription is issued. Prescriptions will not be issued where payment has not been received. HumanMind Health may choose not to prescribe if it becomes aware that medication advice may not be being followed or where the information provided contra-indicates the prescribing of further medication.
Controlled Drugs Prescribing
HumanMind Health will only prescribe controlled drugs on a monthly basis for safety and regulatory reasons.
Clinic Letters & Reports
A clinic letter or report may be provided as part of a consultation according to the clinician’s judgment or where agreed in advance in writing. HumanMind Health aims to complete most clinic letters within ten working days of the consultation appointment. This may take longer for complex cases where further information is required. Where possible, the draft clinic letter will be shared with you for comment. After three working days, or sooner if agreed, the letter will be considered final and sent to the relevant recipients.
Fees and completion timescales for ah hoc / specialist reports and letters will be agreed on a case-by-case basis according to availability. Please enquire for a quote.
